Abu Dhabi, Wednesday 02 October 2019: Bloomberg
Capital Markets Forum convened senior leaders, decision makers and global
influencers from the international financial and business community to
discuss the region’s influence on global capital markets.
To watch Bloomberg TV’s interview with Sjoerd Leenart, head of Global
Corporate Banking and regional head for Central & Eastern Europe, Middle
East and Africa at JPMorgan Chase & Co. on the sidelines of
the Bloomberg Capital Markets
Forum in Abu Dhabi, click here.
Key highlights from the interview include:
- The Middle East is
transforming like it has never done before, and that comes with a lot of
opportunities for banks to help companies grow and optimise their set up
through fundraising on equity or debt markets or through M&A and
changing the format of their business.
- The shift from
syndicated loans to the bond market is a great way to attract FDI into the
region. The Middle East’s strong credit rating, zero rate bonds offered to
investors is an attractive proposition.
- This year has seen $80
billion of regional inflows from the bond market and $25 billion in public
equity market inflows; a large part of that being passive flows into Saudi
Arabia following the MSCI & FTSE inclusion.
